I teach a classroom full of 31 2nd graders near Sacramento, California. The school is Title One and has a lot of diversity. As funding keeps decreasing more and more I am continuing to try to find fun ways to keep my students motivated and engaged. Many of my students attend after school programs, receive free lunches, and have many siblings in one home. There are minimal parent donations coming in. Students are faced with many challenging home lives and it is up to me to create a safe and inspiring classroom for them by providing them with the supplies they need to learn and grow.
