Imagine a classroom that has books that reflect your culture, experiences, interests, and everyday life. This is the vision I have for our classroom library. Too many times, books sit on a shelf because they look old or are raggedy. Bringing in new books that are in good shape and appeal to my students will be a good start. Access to stories that reflect ones life is important in a secondary setting because, too many times, our curriculum only has the "classics" incorporated into the lessons. Currently, my classroom does not have a library, and these books will be a great beginning. I want my students to have access to contemporary texts that they can connect with and compare to classics.
