These materials will make a huge difference by providing the students with the necessary background knowledge of other cultures, as well as providing them with various activities that are embedded within the social studies materials. This material while fun, will also nurture a love for reading. I want to expose students to social studies content from various parts of the world in preparation for 6th grade. I plan to teach on Mesopotamia and teach what life was like in Egypt and China. One of the projects we will do is teach Chinese writing and make an artifact that represents Egypt just to name a few. The expected outcome is to provide them with the knowledge that can be used during peer to peer discourse with family and friends.
