I am a new teacher with a small collection of picture books. I am hoping to expand my classroom library to provide my students with quality literature. I have chosen some of my favorite books that I have used in my previous classrooms. These books will help me show children a love of reading and literature as well as give them opportunity to experience diverse authors. I have chosen Mahoganybooks.com because it is a black-owned business that specializes in books from black authors. In my teaching I hope to celebrate diversity and enforce democratic values, and one way I can do this is bringing in the voices of all kinds of people through books.
