These items will enhance my students learning and experience at school. My students come from a low income area and have disabilities. They need a place at school where they can feel safe and comfortable. My classroom is used for small group instruction with student's with IEP, a place for DE-escalation of behaviors, and the safe place when things are not going their way.
Having an inviting and comfortable atmosphere in my classroom is a way that I can reach my students on a deeper level. The population that I work with need my support and care before they are able to learn. With these items I can meet the needs of each student giving them the best opportunity to learn. Having essential supplies like pencils and organizers help them stay organized for their class and goals. Having essentials like toothpaste and deodorant will make their daily lives better at school. They will not be made fun of. They say that a student's personal needs need to be met before they can learn. Being a special education teacher and working with so many students it is important that I give them the best chance.
The sensory items will help my students when they are with me but I can also transfer them to their general education class so they can be the most successful there as well. The students need more support in the classroom and these items will help them with that. The flexible seating can be moved from place to place to allow them to use it in different settings. I am trying to provide my students with the best care so that they can be successful in school.
