Our students live in an urban area with a high poverty rate. Their idea of an adventure is something outside in the streets with a few of their friends, hoping to stay out of trouble and safe. School is where they usually feel safest and can finally act like children. They are eager to learn about new things and see the world! Unfortunately, lessons are too often being stopped due to one child's behavior. I hope to create an area where children can de-escalate themselves in a safe and controlled manner. Hopefully, returning to the classroom feeling ready to learn!
