Students in my classroom struggle with sensory regulation. Having items in a specific area within the class that they can use to calm and refocus will help them to learn to self-regulate. Some students will complete a math page if they know that at the end of the 20 problems they can go and sit in the sensory area and look at a bubble timer. Some students will spend time touching water balls and feeling the cool texture and then be energized to work on the spelling task that was requested. In my classroom meeting each child's individual needs and helping them regulate their senses is the crux of this "Sensory Area for All."
