Each week my 5th graders will be introduced to different reading comprehension strategies with various texts. My hope to is provide them with great works of literature, where they can apply those strategies and escalate their reading experience. By giving each of my students a copy of a book in their hands (rather than just a read-aloud), they will be able to mark places with sticky notes where they have questions, point out sections of the story where they were surprised or sad, and locate text evidence for their questioning. This project will aide in the endeavor to help my students find joy in reading.
