Many kids are more interested in video games because of how it captures their attention and creates a world outside of their own. Students become consumed in their virtual world because it engages them and keeps their minds active. Research has proven that students grow as readers and learners when they have high-interest books and materials they can hold in their hands. With the "new normal" in which we have all had to adjust, students are going to return to the classroom after being away since March. Along with our grade-level curriculum, we will also be working to close gaps that have been developed due to five or six months without classroom-based instruction. One way to do this is to provide class sets of novels for students to read and with which to interact. Using novels in class provides students with the opportunity to apply everything they have been learning while engaging with characters and a story they want to follow. My goal is to provide novels for students to read and enjoy as a class. As a way to put books in each students' hand, we will need to have the materials to give each student a copy of the class novels. Students will be able to explore inummerable stories, characters, and adventures. The possibilities are endless and exciting as their imagination is sparked to life.
