The world today is constantly inundated with a need for more efficient, effective and passionate leaders in all facets of industry. Furthermore, our millennial generation currently in secondary school is battling a stigma of lacking training and coaching in leadership and professionalism. Well, we're ready to take our own leadership challenge to combat these issues and make students from the Doland FFA Chapter more ready than ever to tackle leadership challenges in life head-on! By requesting "The Student Leadership Challenge" books and teaching guides, I'm equipping my students with age-appropriate, life-applicable, and easy to read training and knowledge about unlocking their leadership potential, no matter their levels of previous leadership experience. The Student Leadership Challenge focuses on what authors James Kouzes and Barry Posner coin "The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership:" model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart. Not only are these valuable tools for everyday life and professional development, but they are also incredible life lessons for students of high school age. Teaching my students with the guide of this text will encourage them to dive into deeper reflections of their own leadership styles, challenge themselves to recognize the contributions of others, and celebrate the growth of their exponential leadership potential. These achievements will not only be successes for students in my class, but also for our FFA chapter, our school, our community and beyond!
