My students are eleventh graders at a high-poverty, urban high school. They study World History and grow every day as active global citizens. However, many of them have been under served in their previous schools and have fallen behind in reading and writing skills. They also have weak backgrounds in general social studies concepts, and we have to work twice as hard to keep pace with the material. It's an uphill battle, but my students consistently rise to the occasion, developing critical thinking and communication skills that are continually applied to the world around them.
