Working with students with disabilities presents unique challenges in how they learn compared to other students. Because my students have disabilities, they learn in such a unique way, having various options for seating during our small group lessons will allow for them to be more actively engaged. The various alternative seating will give them the flexibility and movement accommodations they need while still allowing for them to participate and focus on the skills being taught. Middle school students balance trying to find themselves and be individuals, while maintaining their social status and friendship networks.
