STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and Esports provide students numerous opportunities to learn and grow. STEAM fields of work are growing rapidly and need many skilled workers to fill each new job opening. Similarly, esports is growing in popularity and provides entertainment for hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Providing opportunities for students to excel in STEAM and Esports activities is critical to developing students into mature and responsible adults. Classes offered by PLTW under the STEAM umbrella and Esports clubs outside of school give students a structured environment to develop responsibility, teamwork, and cooperation. The work that students do in these groups apply readily to the real-world and give students the skills they need to succeed. The equipment needed for this project is essential to allow students to participate in both the PLTW and Esports groups. This PLTW coursework allow students to interact with the concepts of engineering. Students learn how to build robots and program them to perform tasks. Laptops are currently being used to do this work, but providing workstations will make this work more efficient. In addition, the Esports group requires cutting-edge gaming equipment specifically designed for speed and accuracy while competing. Quality hardware is necessary to allow students to compete at a high level and perform their best. The hardware requested in this project will serve both groups for years to come. This project will give students opportunities to build relationships with other students with similar interests. Students that may not have belonged or found their niche in school will have an outlet through PLTW and Esports. My hope is that these students in these groups will become better people because of their experiences.
