Many of today's elementary school-aged children have great difficulty sitting for long periods of time, and the children in our school are no exception. Frequent "brain breaks" helps most children, but there are always a few in each classroom that need something else to help them focus and pay attention. Every classroom in our school has some children who need to "get the wiggles out" while still focusing on learning. The equipment I am requesting will be dispersed throughout the school as a pilot program with the intent to seek funding for more equipment next year. Our most sensory-needy children in each grade level will benefit from having this equipment in their classrooms. Our children will be able to sit on large exercise balls, pedal on pedal exercisers, sit on wobble cushions, and move their feet against chair fidget bands all while helping to improve their attention and thus increasing their on-task learning time. With your help, our school will be well on its way to providing sensory-input equipment for all children who need it.
