This larger and more interactive musical rug will allow students the room they need to explore music without bumping into other students, since our budget cuts, we have larger classes, so we need more room! Circle time is how we begin and end each music lesson for our 350 K-2 students, and we spend time strengthening and exploring our sense of community here with folk dances, songs, and music games. This rug will allow more space for our larger class sizes to have our circle time. The large music staff in the middle allows for interactive, tactile note reading lessons, and the musical symbols on the outsides of the rug allow for consistent exposure to music symbols and language. The other items I requested will also allow us to explore movement to music with the parachute, practice cultural drumming with the Djembe Drum, perform an earth friendly musical, and play a new fun rhythm game.
