As a teacher in a low-income school with little to no support for classroom supplies, I have challenged myself to turn our classroom into a place that supports learning, creativity, and community building. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, each with their own unique story. These students are one of a kind, and have each made my first year of teaching a success. These students are so special! This group of students has grown so much in the last year and have matured immensely for first graders. They have become a close-knit community that loves to foster excitement for learning as well as excitement for the achievement of one another. From the beginning of the year to now, it has been and continues to be my goal to provide the most that I can for my students to continue growing as learners as well as members of a community.
