Expanding the medium option in my high school art classroom will help further engage students in the artmaking process. In addition to familiar artmaking methods like pencil and paper or paint and paper, using woodburing tools will guide students through a process of problem solving and self evaluating. As students use these new tools they will learn what angles, directions, and interchangeble ends work best for their design. While working on their projects, students will collaborate with friends and constantly re-evaluate their artwork and make adjustments to further improve their artwork.
