I want my students to not only have a variety of text to choose from, but I want them to be able to choose books they like that are on their reading level. It is excellent practice and helps students become fluent readers when they can read books that contain words they know and understand. We have books in our room to choose from that cover many subjects, but many of them are not on the same reading level that my students are reading on. I want them to gain a love for reading while being able to practice using texts that they can actually read!
