My students range in age from kindergarten to fifth grade. They participate in math intervention due to low performance in the classroom and/or failing to meet district benchmarks in math. My students love participating in small group instruction. This gives them a smaller environment with fewer distractions. Through intervention, we are able to focus discretely on their skill areas of most need. Often times, they just need to see or hear a particular skill or concept taught in a different way. Small group allows us the avenue to accomplish this. My school is one of the eight elementary buildings in our school district. We have over 400 students in our building and in most school years, I deliver math interventions to anywhere from 30-50 students over the course of the year.
