This year we have the opportunity to start an 8th grade Jazz Band! Unfortunately, we don't have all of the instruments we need! There are no funds at the school to purchase new instruments and we are in need of a Bass Guitar and Piano. In order for the students to be able to understand Jazz completely, we need a rhythm section consisting of drum set, bass, and piano. We were able to put together a drum set from old pieces stored at the school. We have a piano that will work for now, but no bass available for the student that wants to play. Giving the students an opportunity to study Jazz will provide opportunities that were not available before. Not only will they get more performance opportunities, but they will learn a new style of music and the history of an American art form.
