Writing their own stories helps them have a vested interest in what they read and create stories of greater interest for their classmates. They will find representation of themselves in the stories. The written work will reflect their community, culture, and point of view, thus will make a difference in their engagement with words in speaking, writing, and reading. It will encouraging them to continue to create more written work such as stories, newsletters, plays etc. They have been requesting an in-class printer for instant access to multiple copies for practicing a play they wrote. I wish to honor their request by making this request.
