I am requesting five Samsung Chromebooks. This past year has been a whirlwind! From being the only hybrid/in-person class in my grade to being a fully in-person the last quarter of the year, technology has been a huge factor in student learning and the many transitions we have had this year.
About one third of our student population are English language learners who are navigating so many obstacles and also trying to build their competency with technology.
Technology has become so useful this past year in school during COVID, but also a necessity. My students will use these Chromebooks to build their understanding on how to navigate different platforms - Google Slides, Powerpoint, Google Docs or Microsoft Word - which will help them so much in fifth grade and prepare them for middle school as well!
No one knows for sure what next year will bring, but after a year of students having technological difficulties due to outdated devices, having a set of extra laptops in school will be so helpful! This not only will aid those students whose devices give out in the middle of the day, but also when group work or research is being done in class. I will be able to provide devices to groups on days they do not have devices as well.
