My students come from a Title I school, but their struggles at home do not stop them from loving to learn, and it is not who they are or how they are destined to live. My students love to play freeze tag at recess, are engaged in active learning through centers in the classroom. When we have "Just Read!" time, a time when they can read anything, you can bet there will be a collective, "Yay!" when we begin, and "Oh, man!" when I tell them it's time to put their books away.
