In creating the most successful classroom environment for my students, I have adopted an idea of flexible seating for my students. This will be my first year with flexible seating in my classroom and I am in search of new forms of seating to foster my students' success; such as kneeling chairs for one area. Flexible seating empowers students, fosters collaboration in the classroom and keeps them engaged in their learning. When students are given a choice in where and how they best learn, they take ownership in their actions and success. Flexible seating fosters physical activity with movement around the classroom. This is going to be part of a STEM classroom and can foster more success with different ways to sit. This activity naturally leads to better health and higher achievement. Above all, flexible seating allows students to pair up and discuss curriculum naturally and creates a community for learning!
