All of my students present with articulation or language deficits. My students work on various speech sounds, with the most common being /r/, /l/, /s/, "ch", and "sh." I also have many students who have difficulty understanding and expressing themselves through language. For example, many struggle with using the correct pronoun, adjectives, and verb forms when speaking in class, completing assignments, and writing. Also, many of my students are lacking age-appropriate vocabulary skills. Despite their deficits in speech and language, my students want to actively participate in the general education classroom and are willing to work hard toward their goals.
