Having a document camera in my math class would make the content more accessible, relevant, and engaging for my students, and aid in their success. My students are wonderful, lively, talented young people who have never known the meaning of privilege. They come from a low-income urban area in Southern California, and most of them have historically had negative experiences with math. All of my students receive free or reduced lunch based on their families' income bracket, and most of them will be the first in their family to graduate high school. My students are primarily Latino/a and for the most part, English is their second language. Success in Algebra will be essential for my students to graduate high school and get into college, which is the emphasis of our small charter school. However, resources are scarce and money is tight. We have no sports program and very few electives, so I need your help making sure my students have the best resources possible within my math class!
