I teach at an elementary school where nearly all of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My students love to discuss the stories we read together, but they sometimes struggle to express themselves in English. When they go home, some of them are the only ones in their household who can speak English. My students are creative, inquisitive, and bright, but I can see the frustration on their faces when they encounter words they do not understand.

About my class
