This is my second year teaching at Judice Middle School where I started an art program from the ground up for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Art is such a useful tool for these middle schoolers to learn about themselves and how to express themselves. My art room is a safe place for my students to embrace and demonstrate their uniqueness. The creation of art forms a community within the classroom. This community spirit feeds into the students' other classes and allows the students to freely express themselves. As Pablo Picasso said, "art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
