Our students look forward to working on their art each day. Many students enjoy art so much that they register for two or three more years of classes. One student wrote a letter to me and said, "I never thought about trying this type of art before coming to your classroom. Now, I LOVE ceramics and I cannot give up on it." Our large public high school of about 2400 students serves an economically diverse population and it should be noted that 54% of our students are on free and reduced-price lunch plan. The art classes at our school count toward a fine arts credit for graduation and are popular electives with our students. We currently have over 450 students registered for Ceramics One, Ceramics Two, Ceramics Three Honors, and AP Studio Art: 3-D Design, Drawing and Painting 1, 2, 3, Portfolio class, AP Studio Art: 2-D Design and AP Studio Art: Drawing.
