Art is a way for students to express themselves nonverbally, but I want to continue to build their verbal communication skills and intelligent disobedience as well. My students enjoy telling me that art is subjective and therefore cannot be graded. However, for them to intelligently break the rules of art, like many great artists, they must first know and understand the rules. The posters and STEAM lessons from TPT will assist students in regularly hearing and seeing how core content, elements of art, and principles of design apply to every aspect of our learning. By reinforcing these concepts, students will be able to have higher quality critiques and produce higher quality artworks, thus improving their chances of getting into a choice high school.
