Flexible seating allows students to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. In turn, this helps keep young minds more alert and focused. My students will be able to use the throw pillows and lap desks in their independent reading center and during our carpet time. The wobble cushions will help keep my students seated and paying attention longer which will increase their engagement. Simple changes in the classroom environment can lead to a more active, engaged, enthusiastic, and relaxed room of students. Research has shown that flexible seating options can increase brainpower, encourage collaboration, enhance the classroom community and make learning fun. Typical classroom chairs are often firm and uncomfortable which leads to antsy little ones and a lack of focus. Many reports, much research and a number of studies have all indicated that there are several negative health effects that are directly attributed to exposure to unfiltered fluorescent light. Fluorescent light filters help to reduce visual fatigue, headaches from eyestrain some of the problems that can be attributed to direct exposure to fluorescent light for extended periods of time. Help me welcome my students with a warm and inviting classroom and plenty of flexible seating options!
