My school, Meadowfield Elementary,is a National Model Paideia School! It is an exciting, vibrant, neighborhood school. Meadowfield is the first school in South Carolina to offer the unique Paideia approach to learning. The Paideia philosophy encourages children to be active participants in a democratic learning environment. My students come to school eager to learn and grow, but unfortunately lack many of the necessary skills to be successful in first grade. This is in part to economic hardships. 70% of our school population is on free or reduced lunch. I strive to make my classroom a safe and caring learning environment in which all children are given the same opportunity to be successful.
