My students have not had new novels purchased for them in a very long time. The current whole class novel is older than me! I want my students to become lifelong readers and become excited about what we are reading. By providing these novels, they will be able to read a recently written novel with their peers that they can connect with and learn from. We will be able to discuss many different reading skills such as characterization, author's craft, identifying theme, and much more. The students will be more invested in the lessons, because someone invested in their learning by providing them with new books.
