Flexible seating has been proven to engage more students in their learning because it provides comfort in the classroom. Many students have great difficulty sitting in a traditional classroom chair. Flexible seating will allow my students to focus, perform better, and improve behavior. Wobble chairs, pillows, bean bags, and floor cushions will help my classroom tremendously because my students will have more choices to find a comfortable seat to work with partners or in small groups, to complete work, to do STEAM bins, or read a book, etc. It will also allow them to exert excess energy by giving them opportunities for movement. Students are much different than they were many years ago, so my classroom should be also!
