I teach at a Title 1 school and 100% of the student body participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). This means that families in this district are living below the 130% poverty line. I am in a Kindergarten classroom with 19 students. The content area is geared around supporting literacy development. The objective of my school is to support student's social, cognitive, emotional, and physical development. A factor that may impact teaching is a lack of accessible resources for parents and guardians to help students emerge in literacy and math. Many do not have access to basic supplies and resources at home that could aid in helping students develop academically.
