Children need to move their bodies in order to be able to stay focused and to learn. My curriculum requires that students process and store information. Students will be able to improve behavior and productivity thus increasing learning and engagement. What is a fidget toy? While they can take many forms, the gist of a fidget toy is to be something that keeps a person's body engaged so they can keep their brain focused on what's happening around them. They can be great little sensory supports for kids who need constant movement or pressure on their hands, and can aid in helping these kids with whole body listening. Stability balls and wobble chairs are another very nice way for a child to be able to sit still at his desk and wiggle around at the same time. Making a few fidgets available for anyone who wants them will allow the children who really need them to gravitate towards them without feeling singled out An object to manipulate, and busy hands makes sitting still infinitely easier, which anyone who has made a chain of paper clips, folded a gum wrapper into an origami shape, doodled a cartoon, or systematically torn the label off of a soda bottle during a long meeting knows only too well.
