Despite being in an older locker room, I am truly grateful to have been given a space where I am able to help my students build the skills that they need to access their education and to feel better supported in school. I am currently working on turning this counseling office around so that the atmosphere can be more conducive for students to be able to connect with me as their school counselor and to assure parents that the counseling environment is a safe and comfortable area for their children. The requested 4' by 6' area rug will be used to allow my K -6th grade students to remain engaged in group counseling/peer counseling sessions while at the same time giving them the opportunity to get the wiggles out. The big, comfy couch will help my 7th and 8th grade students enjoy the comfort and safety of my office while at the same time practicing building skills that will help them to become competent students. This couch will also be a great addition to my counseling office as it offers another option for my students other than sitting on a desk chair.
