Teaching science to beginner English Learners requires a lot of hands-on experiences. Teaching science requires a lot of language support but there needs to be a practical component too. Some science concepts cannot be observed directly so other means are vital to solidify the idea which is especially true for understanding Earth's interior. My project involves the purchase of long springs to demonstrate wave behavior and how scientists understand the interior of our planet. These springs will allow our students to better grasp the concept. Also, we will be able to use these across multiple grade levels and in multiple units.
