These xylophones are a great size for children's laps. They are light weight and the bars are bolted on so the notes won't fall off when the students are playing them. There are both diatonic and chromatic notes, therefore these are great for my youngest kindergarten student to my oldest fifth grader. Starting in kindergarten, the students learn how to keep a beat and accompany songs on pitched and non-pitched instruments. My younger students can play one or two notes as a way to accompany sounds in a song while my older students can play simple tunes on the xylophones. Using these instruments can also enhance their understanding of harmony by playing different notes at the same time.
