By the time they enter my 8th grade classroom, many students claim they don't like reading. They all have their reasons; some have too many requirements on what they read in school (like the dreaded book report), some haven't found a genre they enjoy, and some are just trying to fit in. My goal is to provide students with more book choices and time to "just read" - with no other requirements - so they can find the enjoyment of experiencing another world that they once had. Helping to build up my classroom library with these contemporary book choices will give them more options and hopefully students will find some enjoyment in reading again.
