Students today need technology to be successful. My students live in a low to middle class neighborhood. Many are given low expectations for their futures. I have had students tell me that they don't need school because they will be a mommy, be a sports professional or work on the dairy like their parents. With your help, kids who have such little hope can succeed. Technology can open so many doors. With a Chromebook, kids can see the potential for their lives. I would like to implement a "genius hour" in my classroom. For this, my students will be given class time to work on a project of their choosing. They will be given the opportunity to research something they would like to learn. For example, they can learn robotics, write a poem, or learn sign language. To do this they need to be able to research their topic.
