Give Me Books, Give Me the World!
Funded Jun 15, 2012Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. We have been able to organize our classroom readers with the book cart. That has made teaching so much easier! I am able to pull a book, on level for each group. It has saved so much time and has made it able to focus on skills instead of finding a book! We have been using the books that were purchased as a nonfiction center. Students are able to read the books and then show what they know! Thank you so much for donating to our classroom and helping my students to succeed!”

A Rack For Our Knapsacks
Funded May 20, 2012Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. This cart, though it may not see like it, has made our classroom roomier and less cluttered. It has also helped the students learn skills such as organization and time management. When students get their things in the morning, they have to get everything and plan ahead. They are learning life skills! It also allows our class to use the area that was once our closet as a computer area and reading nook. With your donation our class has been moving a long so smoothly. We thank you!”

This classroom project was brought to life by State Farm and 4 other donors.Centers of New Knowledge
Funded Dec 31, 2011First off, I would like to say, thank you so much! I can't even tell you how great it is to being writing this. I love that for some of you, this is the second time around! It was so great to tell my students that people cared that much about them! These new resources have been great. They are fun and bright and easy to use. The word builders are really helping with vowel pairs and their different sounds. The flip charts have been great as well. They cover so many different areas. The awesome magnetic word builders have been great because so much of reading is know your digraphs. Having them already be chunked together drives home that idea!
You are all so amazing! Thank you so much! You have made my classroom a better place and my students have really progressed! You are great!”

Funded Nov 17, 2011First off, I would like to say, Thank you! These resources have been so useful in our class. They are great for review of skills. My English Language Learner students have used them a ton! This week we are starting our unit on Geometry and they have really been great for that. The kids love make new shapes from ones they already know! We are also having a great time working in pairs and peer coaching our classmates. It has helped to build the family attitude in my class. My students are learning they can ask their classmates for help and they will get it! Again, I thank you so so much! You have made my classroom a much more fun place. ”

Our Carpet is an Outline on the Floor
Funded Aug 15, 2011Thank you so much. No longer do I freeze when I sit on the floor with my students to read or edit their work. We not longer have to sit coldly as we do our math lesson or calendar time. The carpet is amazing and fits us all nicely. It has a nice warmth and make my room look and feel more like home. We love our carpet and it has just made things easier. Sometimes, after a community goes through what we have, you just need a place that feels like home. Thank you for giving that to my students! You are amazing!”

Digging Deep into the Soil
Funded Aug 11, 2011You have no idea the fun we had with this unit! We were able to touch and feel and play with the worms. The students loved the worm viewer. We would slid up the black sides and go searching for the tunnels they leave. We also had a great time looking through the compost and seeing how big the worms were getting. Yes, I know, YUCK! But it really was fun searching through and seeing what food was being decomposed and what things were not. The knowledge that these students took from this in to their real world is not measurable. Thank you for giving that to my students. ”

Writers Need Their Supplies
Funded Aug 26, 2011Thank you all so much for your thoughtful and kind donation. With this donation my students have been able to all have the same supplies and start out the year with what they need to succeed. Unfortunately, not all students start the year with the same kind or quality of materials. That was not a problem we had to deal with this year. Our community was devastated this year and your contribution helped my students to get past that by writing about it. Often this is the best form of therapy. They have been able to put their memories, fears, and emotions on paper. Hopefully, they have been able to let go a little because of this. ”

Organize Me Please!
Funded Aug 17, 2011Writing is a very important skill. It is not something you can just do. With the materials you have provided us we are able to better think about and organize our writing. We have been putting to great use our notebooks and filling them up with great stories. We know where to go to find our editing sheets and other supplies. We are working away to write the best stories! Of the stories we have written, my favorites have been about the recent events our city has gone through. The students have been able to draw and write about everything they feel and have gone through. This is something that will help them in their lives to better understand the changes in their lives. Hopefully, from this writing will also be a place of comfort.”

Book Packs for Everyone!
Funded Aug 18, 2011 Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. You have made it possible for my students to interject fun nonfiction reading into their daily lives. Students are able to take home a reading book every single night. They are able to read about animals and plants and other great parts of the world around them. Their knowledge of nonfiction reading will help them to perform well on future work, tests and in everyday life. Thank you so much for being the amazing person you are letting my students know there are great people in the world”

Social Studies via Reading and Exploring
Funded Aug 21, 2011This project turned out to be a very interesting one! We were able to read about area jobs and really think about what went to doing that job! The town we are from has recently been devastated and a lot of the jobs were gone. Doing this project led to students reflecting on how disasters can really change your neighborhood. Thank you so much for your part in making that project - and real outside the text book - outside the box - learning happen! You are amazing people and I thank you!”
