We used to have parent volunteers teach coding classes to only upper grade students after school. But their unreliability has placed the spotlight on the classroom as the main arena of learning how to code, which has become a necessary skill for the generation of students in my class. As they develop and tinker with their coding skills, websites hold their attention only so much. Often, the meaningfulness is lost with the intangible performances on the screen. To ensure that students understand the importance of learning how coding can be used to solve problems, I will be implementing drones and tablets as tools. Working in groups, they will learn how to code, problem solve, troubleshoot, and deal with interpersonal relationships as they strive to achieve a set goal. The engagement level of the group's tasks will provide a learning environment that would be difficult to replicate from books or a simple coding website. Moreover, they will be focused on the challenges that misbehaviors due to ennui or lengthy seat time will most likely decrease.
