As the Social-Emotional Counselor of a K-12 Charter School, I am provided the privilege of serving all the students of the school. My goal is not just to reach the defiant students who act out for attention, but also to address the quiet students are not able to work, the anxious students who do not know how to ask for help, the ones who cannot concentrate because of difficulties outside of school, and all others in between. By using therapeutic games, like Stop, Relax & Think or the Talking, Feeling, Doing Game, Totika Self-Esteem game, TableTopics, Anger Defuser, and CBT 123 students are better able to have their specific social-emotional needs met. It is important to engage the students, to build rapport and develop safe and healthy relationships so that they can develop strong social-emotional intelligence, confidence, courage and compassion.

About my class
