My students are a unique group of 6th and 7th graders from the South Bronx. They are labeled special education students and attend a specialized school. They are in a program for children who have been diagnosed with an emotional disturbance. This means many of them suffer from ADD, ADHD, bipolar, schizophrenia, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, or any other number of mental illnesses or behavior issues. They are great kids who need a little extra love and support. School does not come easy to them. However, when they are given the encouragement and support they deserve, they are very successful.
