My name is Amanda Quinn! I teach 5th grade at Walden Elementary School in Walden, N.Y. Walden Elementary is a very diverse school where more than one-third of the students come from low income households. We have a lot of different needs in our school and do our best to meet each and every one of those needs! Last year I bought a couple different seating options for my students to try and saw a difference in the their attitude towards school and work, a calmness while working and an improvement in grades! This year my goal is to implement flexible seating options for every student to promote a student centered classroom. I have researched the benefits of flexible seating and have found that "Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive". My goal is to get my students up and moving throughout the day to keep them comfortable, productive and focused!
