There are a few ways that the mobile teaching easel will come in handy in my classroom. I would use it as an intervention for my academically low targeted students. I believe that if I am able to do more small group interventions/instruction, whether it be direct or more differentiated, it could be very beneficial to those students who are struggling and really need that extra help. I would also use it to pull back those targeted students throughout the day and give them more direct instruction in reading and math. Students will be given the opportunity to be “teacher” in a small group setting where they feel more comfortable, build confidence in themselves, and show what they know or what they are learning as an informal assessment. It will also be used to display vocabulary, grammar that we are working on for the week, phonics rules, writing strategies, and more. I will also display any basic math concepts that students need help with, subitizing problems (dot talks), and instruct students with short number talks in small groups. I currently offer small group math tutoring after school and would love to be able to have the mobile easel and use it as a teacher-led math station!
