Flexible seating allows my students to take ownership of their learning by choosing what works best for their unique learning style. My students are currently able to sit in their "Book Nook" which include: rockers, pillows, the back table, stools, crate seats, or anywhere on the floor with a clipboard. Moving away from their traditional seat to be comfortable is highly motivating. My students are highly engaged and less disruptive to others when given the opportunity to choose where they sit. The items I have selected will give them more choices and meet the needs of more learners. The wobble stools and exercise ball chairs will be highly effective for those students who have a difficult time sitting in a traditional chair during instruction. The laptop stand desks give my students another option while working around the room on their Chrome Books. Just by allowing my students to sit around the room while completing an assignment or assessment has raised the engagement level. The decrease in disruptions to peers speaks volumes to why letting students choose their spot has a positive outcome for the learning environment. I can't wait to see how these additional options will benefit the learners in my classroom!
