The hardest thing for my students is building independence and generalizing skills. When I find materials that will help them do this I usually have to print them in black and white, making the pictures dull and hard to understand. My students access everything through visual input. Their language is visual, and their world is colorful and unique, much unlike printed materials I can provide. The entire curriculum my district provides is online, and printable, but my students do not get full, enjoyable access when materials are black and white. Providing color ink will give them full access to curriculum and materials I find to target skills to build independence, while providing Velcro will help to make tasks that are interactive. By also providing card stock and laminate pouches I am hoping these materials will be durable and last all year. Please Color Our World and provide them with the beautiful visual input they deserve!
