As a first year teacher at a highly-ranked STEM school.... I know my students will need differentiated STEAM activities that are above their grade level to support math and science. I will be teaching energetic, curious, lively and talented first grade students. I plan to create STEM BINS that challenge my students and use literature as a background and promote science and math. These materials would be a wonderful addition to help my growing classroom for my students to explore. With these materials to make STEM BINS I will be able to have my students explore math and science in learning centers or working at their table to work cooperatively to communicate, collaborate, innovate, discover, explore and compare with others in the classroom. These BINS are wonderful because every aspect of learning is incorporated. Reading, writing, science, and math. Along with learning how to work cooperatively in a team. Hearing about the school environment and the students I'll have- I know they are eager to learn and love math/science. Our school does a fantastic job of keeping a family orientated atmosphere where not only students but parents feel welcome. Teachers are excited and work hard to promote learning that will take our students achieving at high levels. By donating to this project I will be able to start the school year off with STEM activities that will jump start their learning without having to purchase in small pieces that do not incorporate all areas of learning.
